Taking care of your lawn
When it comes to taking care of your lawn it firstly important to increase your watering schedule, this will then lead you to get your lawnmower out to be used a bit more. Get the lawnmower a good service, starting with the blades, these could be sharpened or replaced. Doing this will be important for the health measures of your lawn and the neatness. Also check your fuel, filters and sparkplugs. A mower left idle over the winter months often needs a ‘freshen up’ to run its best. Buy some fertilizer for your lawn, this will give it the required nourishment for the needed growth. It is also highly recommeded to aerate your lawn so that it can recieve the fresh air for the roots.
Your turf will either be supplied as rolls or slabs. Lightly water your prepared area and roll out turf in a staggered brickwork pattern. Always cut your turf with a sharp knife, it must never be ripped. If you are planting your grass on a slope, it must be planted across the slope. If you dont do this water will run between the rolls and wash away your soil. Once the turf has been laid you must water it immediately, this is essential to activate the fertiliser. Your new lawn requires a good roll, which will even out any small bumps, firm down the turf, squeeze out pockets of air and help bond the grass roots to the soil.
