One of the most popular options for at-home car storage is carports. A carport is a wall-less structure with overhead protection that can be used to park cars underneath. Carports can be freestanding or fixed to the adjoining home and provide your vehicle with limited protection from outside elements, such as rain or the sunshine.

When it comes to saving costs, carports are definitely one of your best options. Most of the time, homeowners choose to get a professional to quickly erect their carport, but if you have some building experience, there’s no reason why you can’t build it yourself with an all-inclusive carport kit.

Carports are also a quick solution as they can be up and ready to use after only a few hours to a day or so. Carports can also be used for multiple purposes. On very hot days, they provide shade for children to play in or can be used as a protected spot to host guests.

Homeowners also have a lot of room for creativity when it comes to choosing the materials and design of their carport. They can attach it to their home, or have it free-standing in the perfect spot.  They can make their own decisions as to the flooring of the carport and can choose to keep the natural grass or ground on which they build the carport, or can lay down cement, paving or gravel.

Homeowners can also choose any material from wood to steel for the supports of their carport, and can alter the shape of the carport’s roof, as well as the materials used to construct it, to match the design aesthetic of the main house.
