Post 56 Build it Journey

It was a day of contrasts today. I got a lot of work done but got lost a few times and also had to turn back because of no petrol in a town.
Last night’s sunset has to be one of the best yet. I stood and watched it until it got dark and it was amazing. I don’t have the power of words to explain it but I can say that this country is special.
So after a good night’s rest where the air conditioner was needed for the first time – no words how hot it is here in the Northern Cape - I got off to an early start. I met with the unbelievably nice Andre Ferreira in the Postmansburg Build It. He offered me tea and we had an awesome chat and what a great way to start the day. Andre looks after four Build It stores and I could see why after meeting him. He is so sharp! He loved our website and all that it’s doing for the Build It group and especially his stores. It made me feel very enthused for what I knew would be a hot day ahead.
I then headed off for mighty Kathu which was way bigger than I imagined. I met with manger Stok Van Zyl who is quite a character and another good guy. We had a solid meeting and then I was off for Kuruman whose name has changed to a name I cannot remember. I remember thinking it was quite a different name though. In Kuruman I met with Johann Meyer who greeted me warmly and was very hospitable. Johann also loved his listing on our site and seeing all his leads.
I left for Vryburg although I had already done a bit of driving and three stops, as I wanted to make use of the time I had left in the day. I only had a quarter tank of fuel but seeing a town on the map about 15 kms from where I was I drove out of Kuruman without filling up. This could be a long story but the long and the short of it is that when I got to the next town there was no petrol so I had to drive back to Kuruman, fill up, turn around again and drive again towards Vryburg. As you can imagine this kind of thing does not appeal to my sense of humour.
After a bit of fuming I calmed down to enjoy the scenery as it was a long drive and once getting to Vryburg I went straight to the Build It where I met with first manager Zaeem and then with Malize where I went through their listing. The day was really running out now but I decided to try and get to Delareyville which I did in time to meet Botiki Sout and owner Mandini Maringa both of whom are lovely people. I went through the listing with Sout who was very enthusiastic about everything.
I was very tired now and just had the energy to find digs for the night which took me to a few places and I have found something that I can sleep in. Probably enough said about my accommodation.
Tomorrow is another day and I hope I can have a great run into the weekend. Adios Amigos.
