Post 46 Build it Journey

Today has to have been one of the most scenic and visually appealing of the whole trip. It is just so beautiful down here in the winelands of the Cape. It’s like every leaf and blade of grass has been specially placed in its specific place. I popped into Boschendal (I did not drink a thing!) and I can’t recall ever seeing anything so beautiful. I just stood and stared. I could live down here that’s for sure
I had a great stay in the Franschoek backpackers in a dorm room. The staff there were an absolute delight and we had many giggles as we chatted away. For some reason they found my Durban sense of humor very funny and it was a laugh a minute in the kitchen part of the backpacker sipping tea and telling stories. Franschoek is indescribably beautiful with every building and garden an absolute work of art. Frame this with the most majestic mountains circling the town, the freshest air one can breathe and wine farms all around and you will know what I am on about. It is an expensive place though with accommodation costing into the thousands. So I was especially pleased that my thrifty self secured a bed for R200 for the night. I did get a discount though. What a great overnight stay
After collecting my bike and having a heart attack about the bill - first up this morning was Paarl’s Boland Build It where I met the super friendly Samantha Harris and Cashif Latief. Cashif went through Boland Build It’s listing with me and it was great to see how enthusiastic he was about our website. What a fantastic store also – clean, orderly, pretty huge and just a lovely feeling. It’s a pity I did not see more of Paarl as it’s such a big part of our history and there are some pretty famous schools in this town.
I was on the go and had a late start because of my bike issues and so headed straight out too Wellington where I met with the manager AK but was unfortunately not able to meet the owner Mr. Ahmed. I did try my best and hopefully before I leave the area I will get to meet with him. The store is certainly impressive also and huge.
Again I saw barely anything of Wellington and headed off to Ceres to meet with Michael Krone an absolute gentleman and such a warm friendly person. We spent some great time together at his Ceres Build It store and it was a pleasure to go through his listing with him and explain what our website is all about.
With a solid day behind me I tried to find accommodation in Ceres but in vain. Everywhere I went was full or way too expensive. So I decided to make the 15 minute drive to Tulbach where I found excellent cheap accommodation and spent the evening feeling very happy with my memories of an evening in this pretty village way back in 1989 with my Dad, sister and about 6 of my mates. We sure had a party and the stories are still getting told to this day. The poor Tulbach Hotel. My Dad was such a legend and paid for everyone that whole trip and what fun we had. Rest in Peace Dear Dad.
