Post 44 Build it Journey

Today was beautiful driving. The best scenery you could ever imagine. I understand totally why people come down to this part of the world on holiday and end up leaving their life in the city and move down here permanently. It’s truly beautiful with the friendliest people ever.
First stop was the Overstrand Build It in Gansbaai where I met the absolute gentleman Marnus van Staden. We had a great chat and amazing to see that this small seaside town has attracted such strong traffic to their listing – 113 unique visits and 56 leads. Awesome!
After a lovely visit it was on to Hermanus where I met with Nico and also the owners of the store. It was a solid visit and Nico was great. Very honest and straightforward which I always enjoy. Nico is on the ball and totally gets how good it is for his store to be listed on our site as did the owners Eddie and Silvana.
I then headed to Kleinmond to meet with Johnny Da Silva my namesake and all round good guy. We had a great meeting and then it was along one of the best roads South Africa has to offer. A truly unbelievable coastal road that is almost exactly like the road between Hout Bay and Noordhoek which is the Chapman’s Peak drive. The drive between Kleinmond and Gordon’s Bay is no poor cousin to Chapman’s Peak and an added bonus is that there is no hefty toll to pay, in fact it’s free. Beautiful beaches, rugged cliffs, blue clean ocean, fresh crisp salty air – it’s an amazing drive – you have to do it!
I then arrived at Strand Paint and Hardware Build It where I had a brief chat to owner Mr. Ahmed and then I was on my way to Somerset West and finished for the day. I had an hour to spare so I went to look at Vergelegen which is my favourite place to wander around. I have been there many times and I especially love it as my Grandparents house in Kloof was modeled on Vergelegen and was a truly spectacular property. I wish I had been able to buy it when I was young but unfortunately I did not have the cash available then.
I then made my way to my friends Bruce and Belinda Walker who have two fine sons Joshua and Garrick for a week end of fun times and wonderful catching up. Too much laughing too.
From next week the blogs will be much shorter as I have decided to dust off my panniers and get on my bike and start riding to the Build Its. I will do this for a number of weeks and I won’t have my computer with me. I can’t wait and another exciting leg of this amazing journey awaits. Happy days
