Post 3 Build it Journey
Go back to listBLOG POST 3
We woke up to Municipal election day fever this morning and lots of coverage on the local TV stations. Here’s hoping that whoever gets into power will work diligently to provide the country and is citizens with efficient and good service delivery and the proper maintenance of our municipalities. After a hearty breakfast with the incomparably friendly, generous and kind Don and Wendy Clarke (who is the publisher of the famous midlands paper The Drakonteur), I decided to see whether the Nottingham Road Build-It was open on a public holiday. I once again decided to cycle there in the cool morning breeze. Greg drove our vehicle and we reached Nottingham Road in time to meet a very friendly Kristel who immediately warmed me up with a lovely piping hot cup of tea at the Notts Build It. Soon after the owner Duncan arrived with Greg doing sterling duty outside once again. Duncan is the owner of both The Nottingham Road and Mooi River store and after patiently listening to my ‘getting there practised’ presentation we headed for Rietvlei where my friends Colin Fleming and Quentin Hurt had allowed us to stay in their magnificent lakeside cottage. In the afternoon we shopped for provisions, caught up on some admin and planned the rest of the week. Thank you to Kristal and Duncan for being very patient with me and for making me feel welcome in your store
